An Inexperienced Breed With a
Powerful Weapon
[return
to devotional list]
"For
the word of God is living and active. Sharper
than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even
to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow;
it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the
heart" (Hebrews 4:12).
Did you know that you have in
your possession a powerful weapon? But what
good is that weapon if you never use it or
experience its power?
After Joshua conquered the land
of Canaan, the Israelites took possession of the
land and served the Lord throughout the lifetime
of Joshua and of the elders who outlived him.
However, the next generation that followed did
not know the Lord or what God had done for
Israel. They were lacked experience in
battle. As a result, they did evil in the sight
of God. God became angry and allowed several
nations to come and test them so he could teach
them how to wage war (Judges 2:7,10).
Many of us come from backgrounds
where we did not have a Christian influence. The
lifestyle that we lived caused us to do evil in
God’s sight. But now that we have come to know
Jesus Christ, we have to be completely retrained
so we can truly represent the family of Jesus
Christ. It is only God who is able to teach us
who He is. And as we use His mighty two-edged
sword, great things will be accomplished. He
only requires obedience as we receive hands-on
experience.
Those who are inexperienced in
warfare, God will use tests, trials, and
tribulations and even your enemies to teach you
(Judges 3:1-4). One of the reasons God allows
some enemies surround you is to show you what
you are made of. Some times we will never know
our potential simply because we focus on our
inadequacies and fail to recognize the purpose
and plan of God for our lives. We think that
because we do not have a degree, or have a
language barrier, or not enough finances, we
cannot answer the call of God. Ehud was
left-handed, but he used his so called
“handicap” to destroy the enemy.
The main thing that matters is
learning how to use the double-edged
sword. There is a secret power in the sword that
will destroy the enemy while its allies wait for
God in victory. The Bible exhorts us to use the
sword of the Spirit to quench all the fiery
darts of the enemy (Eph.6:16-18).
God knows who we are and what we
were called to do. We should not worry about
what we lack or what handicap we possess, all
that matters is learning how to use the double
edge sword and do exploits for Lord who is
mighty in battle. We are called to speak God’s
word. As we speak God’s word, we will pierce the
enemy’s camp with God’s truth and take back the
nations and promised lands that the enemy had
stolen.
Do you want gain experience in
battle? Then learn God’s Word and increase your
prayer time and intimacy with God. When we hide
the word in our hearts and we experience a
battle, it is then we can draw that secret, most
powerful weapon to destroy the enemy. God is
rising up and calling us as a deliver to the
nations by speaking his word. I believe that as
we do so, we will create an impact that will
affect many generations to come.
